Division of Industry Services Programs
The Division of Industry Services is divided into two bureaus, an Administrative Services Section and the Fire Prevention program.
The Bureau of Field Services performs inspections of commercial buildings, amusement rides, boilers, elevators, pressurized gas systems and electrical systems. The bureau also performs plan reviews of elevators, boilers and private onsite wastewater treatment systems. The bureau is also responsible for auditing third party and municipal inspection agencies.
The Bureau of Technical Services performs commercial building, plumbing and fire suppression plan review. The bureau is also responsible for administering the Uniform Dwelling Code program, the federal HUD Manufactured Housing program and provides consultations and training to local building officials and commercial and residential contractors.
The Administrative Services Section provides administrative support to internal and external stakeholders. It also administers the Rental Weatherization program for rental properties.
The Fire Prevention Program administers the 2% Fire Dues program and provides consultation, support and training to over 800 fire departments throughout the state.
Help after the Chetek Tornado (Barron, Jackson, Rusk Counties) or Recent Flooding (Buffalo, Crawford, Dane, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jackson, Juneau, Kenosha, La Crosse, Lafayette, Monroe, Pepin, Racine, Richland, Rock, Sauk, Trempeauleau, Vernon, Walworth counties):
1) Administration and Enforcement of the one- and two- family dwelling program including installation of HUD Manufactured Homes and WI Modular Homes is performed by local municipalities. Please contact your local municipality for plan review, permitting, and inspection requirements. Municipalities or UDC Inspection Agencies may contact Jack Wotruba at (920) 492-7372 or (920) 360-0020 with questions regarding applicable installations standards or code requirements for alterations or repairs to Manufactured or Modular Homes.
2) The Department performs Titling of Manufactured Homes. Please visit our website at Manufactured Homes Titling Program for information on necessary forms for various titling situations or contact (608) 266-2112 Option 3.
3) For plan review of new or expanded Manufactured Home Communities please contact Jack Wotruba at (920) 492-7372 or (920) 360-0020.
4) To request expedited plan review or inspections for Commercial Buildings which sustained damage in the recent natural disaster please contact Steve Dobratz at (920) 492-5611 and make reference to the Chetek Tornado or Recent Flooding.
