Electrical Program

Administrative Code and Statutes

Industry Services Division staff provide electrical consultation to owners, builders, inspectors, electricians, and designers. Electrical inspections are made upon special request.

In 2015 Act 55 changed chapter 101.86 of Wisconsin Statutes to make Wisconsin’s Electrical Code uniform statewide.  Municipal ordinances are required to strictly conform to SPS 316.

The Department of Safety and Professional Services-Division of Industry Services wishes to inform you on the status of the SPS 316 Electrical Code Package.  The proposed code package did not become effective September 1, 2017.  While we are working towards a timeline for the code package to be finalized and released, there is no set effective date at this time.  Please continue to monitor this website page for further information.

Questions on this or any other electrical code questions can be sent to: DSPSSBElectrictech@wi.gov
