Lead paint regulations in Wisconsin are administered by the state Department of Health Services, including contractor training and certification

Renovation work is regulated when performed for compensation in a dwelling or child-occupied facility built before 1978 and it disturbs six square feet or more of paint per room, 20 square feet or more of exterior paint, or involves windows.

People with fire sprinkler, HVAC, and plumbing credentials administered by the Safety and Buildings Division may not need to carry the full certifications that will be required of other contractors and employees, but people or businesses with those credentials must carefully consider their options.
