Continuing education terms:
SPS 305, Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations Code, rules (see
online) require that continuing education periods end three
months before a credential expires (for credentials that have CE
requirements; some don't). That is to allow course
providers and S&B staff time to process the hours of credit.
There is no continuing education requirement for the first renewal
after obtaining a credential. See specfic credential information

Contractor License:
If
someone wants to obtain building permits for one- and two-family
dwellings, the business needs a Dwelling Contractor Certification and
needs to employe someone with a Dwelling Contractor Qualifier
Certifications. Both the certifications are needed to get the permit,
not to do the
work. More info.
A general contractor credential for businesses (even
one-person businesses) is the Building Contractor Registration.

There are trade credentials that some people consider
contractors'
licenses. For example, to do any plumbing, a person
needs a plumbing
license. Electrical contractor licensing is a local question. Find more

General Contractor License:
To work under the Wisconsin building codes, a business needs one
of the dozen or so Wisconsin contractor licenses. The minimum
contractor license is the Building
Contractor Registration. To obtain building permits for one-
and two-family
dwellings (UDC), a company needs the Dwelling
Contractor Certification and the Dwelling Contractor Qualifier
Certification. Those credentials are needed to get the UDC permits,
not to do the
