S&B Public Sector Safety Program

The Safety and Buildings Division establishes and enforce occupational safety and health standards for public sector employees. Consultation and inspections are provided. Wisconsin's Clean Indoor Air Act and the Right to Know Law, which provide information to employees concerning workplace conditions, are administered by S&B.

- There will be a meeting of the SPS 332, Public Employee Safety and Health Code, advisory council on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Room 121A, Safety and Professional Services, 1400 East Washington Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin.  Contact Norma McReynolds, 608-267-7907, or TTY Call Relay 711, norma.mcreynolds@wisconsin.gov.

- Paul Parsons is now the Occupational Safety Inspector for southwest Wisconsin.

- A Statement of Scope, PDF file, has been issued for a possible code development project updating SPS 330, Fire Department Safety and Health, and SPS 332, Public Employee Safety and Health.  The statement is expected to be published in the Wisconsin Administrative Register at the end of February, 2012.

-   Public Employee Safety and Health Code SPS 332.35 (1) substitutes the the 1992 version of OSHA  Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs, PDF file) for the 2003 OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits.    (Disregard the "transitional" limits within the PDF document, as the final rule limits are in effect for public employers in the state of Wisconsin.)  The limits in this rule are subject to change with future additions or deletions within SPS 332.
