Dental Hygienist Continuing Education

Pursuant to Wis. Admin. Code Ch DE 13, licensed dental hygienists shall complete 12 hours of continuing education related to the clinical practice of dental hygiene or the practice of medicine. 

  • CPR and AED Requirement: Licensees can not obtain more than 2 credit hours to satisfy the CPR and AED requirement.
  • Infection Control Requirement: Not less than 2 of the credit hours required must be satisfied by such training.

CE courses must be sponsored or recognized by a local, state, regional, national, or international dental, dental hygiene, dental assisting, or medical related professional organization.  Continuing education credit may also be granted for study groups as defined in DE 13.02 (4).

NOTE: Continuing education requirements do not apply to the biennium in which a license is first issued.
