All initial, reinstatement, and renewal applications for a Trades credential must now be made through LicensE, your online, self-guided licensing platform.

We are transitioning our forms to an online platform, AccessGov, that meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance. You will be able to submit some forms directly within the platform, while some may require you to download as a PDF and upload to another system. As of May 6th, 2026, all forms must be completed using the AccessGov system.  Please follow the instructions on each form to ensure proper submission.

​Registration Information

Per Wis. Admin. Code § SPS 305.34, no person may perform structural welding under Wis. Admin. Code § SPS 334 and Wis. Admin. Code §§​ SPS 361 to 366 unless the person holds a registration issued by the Department as a registered Welder.

A person who does structural steel welding as a registered Welder shall do all of the following:

• Perform only structural welding procedures for which the person has qualified by test within the last four years;
• Carry proof as to which welding procedures the person has qualified by test;
• Present upon request to the Department or its representative proof of the qualified welding procedures;
• Identify the welding on each structurally significant member with a distinguishing mark stamped on the member by the person doing the welding.

Pre-Credential Education Information

A person applying for a Welder registration shall have completed a structural welding test within one year prior to the date of application and submit the "Evidence of Completion of Welding Tests (Form SBD-10899)" document.  Please see list of Weld Test Conductors below.
