The Sign Language Interpreters Advisory Committee is created under
Wis. Stat. § 227.13 and Wis. Stat. § 440.042(1) to advise the Department on matters outlined in
Wis. Stat. § 440.032(6m)(b). The Sign Language Interpreters Advisory Committee succeeded the Sign Language Interpreter Council as a result of
2019 Wisconsin Act 17.
Members
The members of the Sign Language Interpreters Advisory Committee are appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Safety and Professional Services. The agency may use informal conferences and consulations to obtain the viewpoint and advise of interested persons with respect to contemplated rule making. The agency also may appoint a committee of experts, interested persons or representatives of the public to advise it with respect to any contemplated rule making. The committee shall have advisory powers only.
