Dental Therapist Continuing Education

Twelve (12) credit hours of continuing education (CE) related to the clinical practice of dental therapy are required​. The 12 credit hours of continuing education (CE) shall include not less than 2 credit hours of instruction in Infection Control.

CE courses must be sponsored or recognized by local, state, regional, national, or international dental, dental therapy, dental hygiene, dental assisting, or medical-related professional organization. College level courses or teaching or preparing a CE program may be substituted for CE hours if requirements under Wis. Stat. § 447.057 (4) or (5)​ are met.​

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (​CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification must be current to practice dental therapy.

NOTE: Continuing education requirements do not apply to the biennium in which a license is first issued.
