Professional Counselor Section

The Professional Counselor Section of the Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling and Social Work Examining Board is created in Wis. Stat. § 15.405(7c) and has authority as outlined in Wis. Stat. ch. 457.

The members of the Professional Counselor Section are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Legislature to serve 4-year terms. The Section consists of 3 Professional Counselor members, and 1 public member.

The Counseling Compact Commission has proposed text for Chapter 9 Rule on Consistent Credentialing. The proposed rule was posted on June 3, 2026 and public comment period will end on July 12, 2026 at 11:59pm MST. The proposed text of the rule may be found by visiting the link provided.

 

The proposed rule text relates to definitions existing in the Model Compact, and consistent credentialing across Compact jurisdictions.​
