Certificate of Authorization: Geology, Hydrology, or Soil Science Firms (GHSS)

​License Information​

Per Wis. Stat. § 440.08(2), the required renewal date for the GHSS Certificate of Authorization credential is 07/31/ each even-numbered year. Should you receive your initial credential in the months leading up to this date, you are still required to renew your license by the statutorily defined date.

The business entity must be organized under Wisconsin state law and be in good standing in the state, or have applied for/obtained a Certificate of Authority from the Department of Financial Institutions.

Application for Licensure (Including for a License Expired Five Years or More)

A corporation requesting a certificate of authorization shall submit Form 2404, Application for Certificate of Authorization and fee to the Department, listing names and addresses of all officers and directors, and all individuals in its employment licensed to practice professional geology, professional hydrology or professional soil science in this state who will be in responsible charge of professional geology, professional hydrology or professional soil science in this state.
