License Information

Per Wis. Stat. § 440.08(2), the required renewal date for Naturopathic Doctors and Limited-Scope Naturopathic Doctors​ is January 1st each odd numbered year.  If you receive your initial credential in the months leading up to this date, you are still required to renew your license by the statutorily defined date.


Naturopathic Doctor Pre-Credential Education Requirements

​There are several sets of requirements. Satisfaction of one set is required. (Click links for details.)

Limited-Scope Naturopathic Doctor Pre-Credential Education Requirements

Limited-scope naturopathic doctor applications must be submitted by February 28, 2025. Applications will not be accepted after that date (Wis. Stat. § 466.04(2)(c)​).

Satisfaction of 1, 2, and 3 are required (Wis. Stat. § 466.04(2)(b)​). ​(Click links for details.) 

  1. Prior to 2013 applicant completed a naturopathic health care program offered in the United States that provided the degree of Doctor of Naturopathy. 
  2. Applicant has been continually practicing naturopathic medicine in Wisconsin for at least the 10-year period preceding the application for a license.​ 
  3. Satisfaction of Wis. Stat. § 466.04(2)(b)5​ by one of the following:​​​​ 
  4. a. ​Evidence the program in Item 1 provided at least 250 hours of education in 2 or more clinical sciences.
    b. One of three options: (i​) Evidence of completion in 2 or more clinical sciences at least 250 hours of education provided by the naturopathic health care program described in Item 1;​ (ii) Evidence of completion in 2 or more clinical sciences at least 250 hours of education provided by the naturopathic health care program described in Item 1; or, (iii) a combination of at least 250 hours of such education and training.​ 
    c. You are a licensed registered nurse under Wis. Stat. § 441.06 as of the date of application. 
    d. You sign a statement committing to satisfy the requirement in Item b (Wis. Stat. § 466.04(2)(b)5.d) within 5 years after issuance of your initial license. (See Wis. Stat. § 466.04(3)(b).) ​​​

Renewal
