To access the Application Status Lookup tool, you will need the applicant's 10-digit PAR number. An applicant may provide the number to anyone who could support their application. Wisconsin Act 240 - Credentialing DACA Recipients
DSPS is finalizing registration in the federal SAVE program. This is a necessary step to help our agency verify Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status as we implement legislation allowing eligible DACA recipients to obtain an occupational license in Wisconsin.
The SAVE program requires both DACA and employment authorization. DACA applicants should have their current Employment Authorization Document (EAD card) available to complete license application.
Temporary Act 10 Credential
A health care provider credentialed in good standing in another state may apply for a temporary credential to provide services in Wisconsin while a Wisconsin application for a permanent credential is pending. We are transitioning our forms to an online platform, AccessGov, that meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance. License Information
Per
Wis. Stat. § 440.08(2), the required renewal date for the Occupational Therapist credential is 05/31/ each odd-numbered year. Should you receive your initial credential in the months leading up to this date, you are still required to renew your license by the statutorily defined date.
An applicant for permanent licensure may apply for a temporary certificate at the same time but must pay both fees and meet the following conditions:
- Be a graduate of an approved school and be scheduled to take the national certification examination or be awaiting examination results.
- Practice during the period of the temporary certificate shall be in consultation, at least monthly, with an occupational therapist who shall at least once each month endorse the activities of the person holding the temporary certificate.

Successfully complete the academic requirements and supervised internship of an accredited educational program in occupational therapy.

Home State Approval
For applicants who already have a Wisconsin OT license who want a Compact Privilege to Practice in other compact states.You can apply for your Wisconsin single-state license and Home State Approval at the same time.
An FBI Background Check is required for participation in the Compact. Instructions will be sent on how to complete upon submission of your application.
After Home State Approval is granted, please allow up to one week (7 days) for your approval to be searchable in the CompactConnect system.
Privilege to Practice
For applicants with a valid OT license and Home State Approval in another compact member state who want a Compact Privilege to Practice in Wisconsin. To gain privilege to practice, you must apply on both the CompactConnect system and on LicensE.
You must pass the open-book examination on the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code in order to gain privilege to practice. Your application via the CompactConnect system is considered notification of your intent to practice in Wisconsin as required by state statute.
Home State Conversion
For applicants who have a valid OT license in a compact member state, a Privilege to Practice in Wisconsin, and want to designate Wisconsin as their primary state of residence.
An FBI Background Check is required for participation in the Compact. This check is typically completed by your home state as part of the Home State Approval process. Wisconsin requires applicants via Conversion to complete another background check when applying with Wisconsin. Instructions will be sent on how to complete upon submission of your application.
After Home State Approval is granted, please allow up to one week (7 days) for your approval to be searchable in the CompactConnect system.
