The Wisconsin Fire Safety Dashboard (Risk Reduction Tool) is an exciting resource for Wisconsin fire departments and stakeholders to provide quality data through visuals such as charts and heat maps.

The DSPS Fire Prevention/Safety and Health program created this dashboard in coordination with mySidewalk, developer of the industry's Community Risk Assessment Insight Generator (CRAIG 1300). The Wisconsin Fire Safety Dashboard supports DSPS's state-wide Community Risk Reduction (CRR) initiative to improve local community risk reduction efforts and limit civilian and firefighter casualties.

The DSPS standard on fire department safety and health identifies areas where fire departments must ensure that firefighters are limiting their risks and exposures to hazards or potential hazards that can be dangerous to their life and health. Many of the standards noted in SPS 330 are based upon best practices from NFPA 1500 or are directly referenced from OSHA standards.​ See the Firefighter Exposure Protection document for more information.

It is estimated that in a fire department, suicide is three times more likely to happen than a line-of-duty death - and it can almost always be prevented.

Keeping firefighters safe is part of NFFF's core mission. That's why we urge all members of the fire service to be familiar with 988 - our nation's new three-digit dialing code to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You can also dial 988 if you are worried about a colleague or loved one who may need crisis support.
