DSPS-Contracted Inspector, Damarc
Wisconsin administrative rules require DSPS to inspect: boilers, pressure vessels, mechanical refrigeration, gas systems, anhydrous ammonia, and related piping systems; issue Permits to Operate (PTO) for code compliant installations; and charge fees for both the inspection and PTO.
These inspections are conducted to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public and employees by establishing minimum standards for the design, construction, installation, operation, inspection, design
review, testing, maintenance, alteration and repair of boilers, pressure vessels and other mechanical equipment installed in all public buildings and places of employment.
Due to the large number of inspections that must be conducted, Damarc Quality Inspection Services, LLC has been authorized to conduct Boilers, Pressure Vessels, Mechanical Refrigeration, Gas Systems, Anhydrous Ammonia, and related piping inspections as an agent of DSPS. This recognition also includes performance and design reviews as required. Each authorized Damarc inspector is issued an identification card identifying him or her as a Boiler/Pressure Vessel inspector. Please allow this inspector to conduct the required inspection of the regulated objects on your premises.
In addition, Damarc Quality Inspection, LLC is also recognized as a third-party inspection agency providing inspection services for the construction of boilers and pressure vessels in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code sections I, IV, VIII Division 1, 2 and 3 and ASME XII including Repairs and alterations in accordance with the NBIC - National Board Inspection Code. Upon conducting an inspection, Damarc will place an inspection sticker/label on the item which indicates the inspection was performed on a specific date and shall include the inspector’s name/initials of the inspector who performed the inspection.
Upon satisfactory inspection, the Inspector will forward an inspection report to DSPS and request DSPS to issue the mandatory code-required PTO. Should code discrepancies or violations be observed during such an inspection, the inspector will issue orders for corrective action and when necessary, schedule another inspection. After the second inspection, DSPS will be notified of pending violations, which in turn will be referred to the district attorney for prosecution. Owners will receive two invoices, one from Damarc and a second from DSPS. The invoice from Damarc will cover the cost of the inspection(s).
Inspection fees are set by the department to reflect actual costs.
The second fee of $50.00 would be for the permit to operate with the state and will show up in the online portal at eSLA.
