Is an electrical permit and inspection required under Wis. Admin. Code SPS 316 for a camping pedestal on private property?
No, this type of installation is not permitted or inspected under the requirements of Wis. Admin. Code SPS 316, but the applicant may request an inspection. Check with your local municipality for requirements as the municipality can still accept affidavits for installations not covered under SPS 316.
Is an electrical permit and inspection required under Wis. Admin. Code SPS 316 for a pedestal in a public right-of-way?
Yes, if the purpose of the pedestal is to serve any of the locations identified in SPS 316.012(1)(a).
Is an electrical inspection required under SPS 316 for conduit that is installed for electrical service but does not yet contain electrical wire?
No, the conduit does not need an electrical inspection prior to electrical wiring installation, but the conduit and wiring shall be inspected prior to concealing or energizing, in accordance with SPS 316.013(3)(c).
Can existing industrial or manufacturing facilities obtain an electrical permit or inspection?
No. Municipalities delegated under SPS 316.011(1) may require an electrical permit or inspection of any installation, repair, or maintenance of electrical wiring within an existing industrial facility or an existing manufacturing facility per the requirements of Wis. Stats. 101.82(2m) [which is ultimately the Statute that allows the Department to develop SPS 316] and 101.875(2). If the owner requests an inspection, the Department or the delegated municipality may perform these types of inspections to the extent possible with available resources. However, the Department or the delegated municipality is not required under law to inspect these types of installations.
